American Thoracic Society Supports Strong Fine and Coarse Particle Standards, November 12, 2003

Neil Mac Intrye M.D., Chief Professor of Critical Care Medicine and Director of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation program at Duke University presented testimony on behalf of the American Thoracic Society on the EPA draft Staff Paper on Particulate Matter at the November 12, 2003 meeting of the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee.

Lung Association Praises Fourth Draft Criteria Document on PM, 8-25-03

“The Fourth External Review Draft of the Criteria Document (CD) is the best yet in terms of comprehensiveness and clarity, and we find it much improved since the previous draft,” testified Deborah Shprentz, consultant to the American Lung Association at the August 25, 2003 meeting of the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting to review the document.

State and National Groups Urge Enactment of California Standards, June 2002

California Groups Urge Health-Protective 24-Hour Standard, March 5, 2002

The California Air Quality Advisory Committee (AQAC) met on January 23 and 24, 2002, to consider a draft report prepared by the Air Resources Board (ARB) and the Office of Environmental Health Hazarad Assessment regarding recommended changes to the state ambient air quality standards for particulate matter. The major conclusion from the meeting was that staff report needed to be revised to include a 24-hour standard for PM2.5.
