Environmental & Health Groups File Extensive Comments on PM NAAQS Proposal, April 17, 2006
Joint comments filed by the American Lung Association and a coalition of environmental groups lay out the legal and technical arguments why EPA’s proposed revisions to the particulate matter (PM) air quality standards are not sufficient to protect public health and the environment as required by the Clean Air Act. The comments address the need to strenthen the proposed primary standards for fine and coarse particles and the need to set strong secondary standards to protect against visibility impairment and other welfare effects.
The comments drafted by the American Lung Association, Earthjustice, Natural Resources Defense Council, Environmental Defense, National Parks Conservation Association, and Appalachian Mountain Club are attached.
