Hundreds Testify in Support of Strong Air Quality Standards, 3-13-06

Advocates in support of stricter air quality standards for particulate matter outnumbered industry speakers by 8:1 at three public hearings convened by EPA on March 8, 2006.

EPA convened the hearings in Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Chicago to gather public input on their proposed revisions to the air quality standards for fine and coarse particulate matter.

Speaker after speaker including many medical doctors and affected patients called upon EPA to lower both the daily and annual standards for fine particles and to set a national standard for coarse particles that would protect public health.

The testimony of a number of speakers is attached.
