Second Draft Ozone Criteria Document Out for Review, 9/12/05
EPA has published a second and final draft ozone Criteria Document for public review and comment. The 1,800 page document includes a summary report, and detailed annexes for each of the chapters.
The draft report covers topics such as the physics and chemistry of ozone in the atmosphere, environmental concentrations, patterns, and exposure estimates, toxicological effects, controlled human exposure studies, epidemiology, and environmental effects.
Key issues will include background concentrations, mortality effects, interpretation of animal toxicology studies, and chronic effects.
An additional integrative summary chapter will be published for public review by September 30, 2005.
Copies are available for downloading online.
Public comments are due by November 30, 2005 and be submitted electronically online to Docket ID No. ORD-2004-0015.
A public meeting of the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee will be held on December 6-8, 2005 to review the draft Criteria document. To address the committeee in person or by telephone, register in advance with EPA: Butterfield.Fred@epa.gov.
